Stunning views, rolling hills, peace and quiet, a wonderful array of birds and wildlife, winding lanes, walks and a wealth of interesting things to see and do; these are some of the features that make The Parks Cottage an ideal base for a holiday or short break for a family or group of up to 8 in the Welsh Marches close to Offa's Dyke.
The Parks Cottage is located on a hillside overlooking the Welsh border town of Presteigne. Surrounded by beautiful, rolling farmland and overlooking the dramatic Brecon Beacons to the south and west with yet more amazing views of Malvern Hills and the Wye Valley, an AONB, in the southeast. Buzzards and red kites seem to delight in using the hill to soar on thermals and the wind.
The house is a newly built oak-frame building and has been constructed using traditional methods, craftsmanship and care, using local products wherever possible. Once you step inside, its depth of character is apparent, with oak beams, oriental rugs and a wood-burning stove being just a few features that help create a welcoming environment. The cottage provides self-catering holiday accommodation for up to 6-8 people and our guests are treated to light, airy bedrooms, delightful views of the open countryside, and the modern warmth and cosiness of an under-floor heated, off grid, eco-house.
Relax and unwind with comfortable beds, high-spec bathrooms, and luxury grade linen and towels - all complemented by a wood-burning stove, a TV and DVD, and a good array of maps and books on the area. A full basket of logs is provided, and all heating, electricity and linen are included.
The cottage is built to a high insulation specification, and is off-grid for all electricity and water. These services are efficiently provided by a wind turbine and PV panels, a natural spring and a high tech system (in the owners' house behind) that keeps the property supplied with energy. A back-up LPG generator, located such that it is inaudible in the house when running, ensures there is sufficient power at all times.
